CBD Oil For Anxiety and Depression-Does it Work?
Millions of Americans everyday suffer from anxiety and depression, and treatment for it can be varying, and many times people are not professionally treated at all. There are prescriptions for anxiety and depression such as Zoloft and Prozac, however these can come with negative side effects. However, CBD oil is what many people are turning to now for their anxiety and depression, as it’s been found that CBD has effects that can help to minimize anxiety and depression. You might be asking how something as simple as oil can eliminate a problem as large as anxiety and depression? And you also might be asking why you havent heard of this being used as treatment before? Both are valid questions and in the upcoming paragraphs I will answer those questions fully, so keep reading to find out.
What Is CBD Oil?
CBD (cannabidiol) is something that is just starting to make a name for itself in the world today, and for this reason, many people are confused about it or maybe dont even know what it is. So to answer this simply, CBD is one of many cannabinoids
found in cannabis. But before you make any assumptions, there is no psycho-active component of CBD, therefore it cannot get you “high”. The most common form you see CBD in is oil, which is made directly from the plant.
CBD has many medical benefits, and while the focus of todays article is how CBD can eliminate anxiety and depression, its benefits are much further reaching than that, but we’ll save that for another day.
How CBD Can Treat Anxiety and Depression.
While CBD is still continuosly being researched today, there are already several scientific studies that suggest the potetnial benefits of CBD for anxiety. CBD works with a receptor in your brain known as CB1, and this receptor is whats responsible for producing something called seratonin, which is a chemical in your body that plays a very big role in your mental health. People with very high anxiety and depression are often found to have very low levels of seratonin.
Seratonin can impact your emotions, along with your appetite, sleep patterns and digestion. Using CBD would work with the CB1 receptor and actually produce seratonin in your , just like a prescription anti-depressant would.
Using CBD oil also affects a part of your brain called the hippocampus, which is a system of nerves that control emotions such as fear, anger, and pleasure. When you begin to suffer from anxiety or depression, it can actually cause your hippocampus to shrink, so by using CBD you can actually stimulate the growth of new neurons.
In 2011, a study was done by the Journal of Psychopharmacology to see if CBD could be used as a way to treat anxiety. As a result, participants were either given 400 milligrams of CBD orally or they were given a placebo. The study showed that the participants that took the CBD experienced reduced anxiety results over those that took the placebo.
Although CBD is generally thought of as having no side effects because most people tolerate it well, in some cases there are side effects. The most common of these are tiredness, weight gain or loss, and fatigue
It is also important to note that CBD oil when used in combination with other medications could potentially cause the medication to be more or less effective.
How to Use CBD.
There are many ways that one can use CBD. One of the most common ways, like mentioned earlier, is through ingesting the oil. This is usually done by dropping it on your tongue or under your tongue.
Putting a drop under your tongue is the fastest way for CBD to get into your system, and you will feel the effects within minutes of ingesting it. However there are also different ways to consume CBD.
Other comon methods are through capsules, edibles, which is where you put CBD into the food or drink that you consume daily. Also if you have a device capable of vaporizing oil concentrates than vaping CBD is also a very convenient way to consume CBD.
Getting CBD Oil
If CBD sounds like it might be the right thing for you, the good news is you can buy it right online! There are many sites out there that offer safe and effective CBD oil, but like any industry, there are also some very poor CBD distributors out there. Check out my article on Buying CBD Oil for a guide on how to make sure you get safe and high quality CBD oil!!
My recommendation for CBD oil is hands down from CBDPure, they have 100% organic CBD that is quality tested and they have their third party test results displayed on their page, which Is a must if you want to guarantee your CBD oil is safe!
If you want to try CBD, but you’re not sure if you want to go the route of oil, I highly suggest you check out Cannabidiol Life, they have oils, including vape oils, gummies, topicals, shatters, and more. They are a great one stop shop for anything CBD you might need. They also make 100% organic products, and also have their third party lab results on their page, so they pass all of our safety tests as well!
One Last Note
It is important to know that while CBD is emerging itself as a way to eliminate anxiety and depression, if you are currently taking antidepressants for anxiety or depression do not rely on CBD as a replacement without first consulting your doctor first.
As mentioned earlier, CBD can pottentially make other medications more or less effective, so it is important to check with your doctor before consuming CBD if you are on any medication.
